For over 10 years now The Sound Production course has been providing students with the essential skills and knowledge to pursue careers in many of the various areas of the Music and Media industry. The course is very practical and hands on and has been constantly updated to keep up with the ever changing trends and technologies in the industry.
The course is taught by teachers who have worked at the highest level in the industry. This give VTOS students an advantage as they are taught by teachers who are familiar with the industry and have experience of up to the minute techniques and can teach with industry – standard equipment.
The VTOS studio is based around Avid and Focusrite hardware and Avid Protools, Ableton live and Adobe CS6 creative suite software. The course is particularly strong in the Live Sound Production area as this is where the job opportunities are at the moment. Students are trained on a professional 3-way sound system with active monitoring and work on both Analogue and the latest Digital Mixing Desks.
As part of the Event Production module students run a live music fundraising event called Corriblive which gives them real life hands on experience in every aspect of Event Production and Live Sound Engineering. It also gives the students a chance to work with top professionals in the field while raising much needed funds for local charities.
All of this gives VTOS students the ability to work with confidence in any area of the industry or to progress to third level to further their career.
